Presenting a banner of appreciation
On November 9, 2016, Hui Haijun of the Haoli Fleet in Guye District arrived at Hebei Donghai Special Steel Group Co., Ltd. bearing three embroidered banners, which he presented to the company’s Production Department, Safety Department Firefighting Team, and Environmental Protection Department. He expressed his sincere gratitude for their courageous and selfless actions in risking their own safety to safeguard the property of the public.
Around 4:00 p.m. on November 7, 2016, a semi-trailer truck parked outside Gate No. 3 of Hebei Donghai Special Steel Group Co., Ltd. experienced an unexpected tire fire, which subsequently ignited the loaded coke. Driver Hui Haijun promptly called 119 to report the incident. However, due to the long distance and heavy traffic, firefighters and armed police were unable to arrive quickly. In his urgency, Hui Haijun flagged down a passing traffic police vehicle and requested assistance; the officers on board immediately contacted the company’s relevant leaders. Upon receiving the alert, Pang Ruixu, Head of the Production Department, Zhen Wenlong, Head of the Safety Department, and Wang Baohé, Section Chief of the Environmental Protection Department, along with nearly thirty members of the company’s fire brigade and other employees, rushed to the scene and joined the firefighting effort. After nearly two hours of intensive efforts, the blaze was fully extinguished, averting economic losses of close to one million yuan.
Hui Haijun tightly grasped the hands of the company’s firefighting team, reluctant to let go, and bowed repeatedly. With a choked voice, he said, “Thank you, Donghai Special Steel, for your courageous act of righteousness and for extending a helping hand. Thank you also for nurturing so many highly qualified employees who, disregarding their own safety, bravely fought the blaze and helped us recover from such substantial financial losses…”
Though the banner is small, the sentiment is fervent, and the gratitude is plain to see.
